Will New Pea Milk Spell Demise of Dairy?

“We are convinced the beat of a butterfly wing can produce a wave of change and we love to flap our wings! “

Ripple Foods

Ripple Foods hope to be making ripples as big as waves with their new venture. Their new pea milk is better than dairy in every possible way. And it tastes good!

“We find that people that are dairy milk drinkers really like it, and alternative-dairy drinkers love it,” developer Neil Renninger said. “We’ve probably had a couple of thousand people try it, and the reception has been very good.”

Their milks are made from non-GMO pea protein, are allergen-friendly, and have 8 times more protein than almond milk, and half the sugar. They will hit the shelves in Target and Wholefoods in July. Lucky shoppers in the States will be able to choose from Original, Original Unsweetened, Vanilla and Chocolate and contain 32 milligrams of Omega-3 fatty acids.

I hope they will soon travel over here to the UK and Europe too.

A SMALLER CARBON FOOTPRINT – the company says:

“Simply choose Ripple as your dairy alternative to make the world a little greener. We want to make helping the planet feel effortless.
Unlike almonds, which require lots of water; or cattle, which contribute to deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions; peas have a small environmental footprint. Yellow peas grow in areas that receive lots of rain, so they need little or no irrigation. Ripple’s bottles are also made from 100% post-consumer recycled plastic; and that plastic can be recycled by 99% of US households.”

WATER USE  A single litre of cow’s milk takes 1,000 litres of water to produce. Ripple takes 2.25 litres.

  • Sugar:-  Ripple contains half the sugar of cow’s milk and less than almond, cashew and coconut milks
  • Protein:- Ripple has the same amount of protein as dairy milk and 8 x the amount in nut milks
  • Saturated fat:- Dairy & coconut have 9 x more than Ripple
  • Calcium:– Ripple has 50% more calcium than dairy
  • Vitamin D: – Ripple has more Vit D than any of the alternatives

Ripple hopes the milk will be joined by plant based yogurts, cheeses, cream and protein shakes in the future.

Dairy Farmers, a special message from me to you:

Stop the cycle of cruelty! Stop subjecting cows to endless pregnancies! Stop dragging frightened day-old calves from their grieving mothers!

Milk peas not cows!
