The Bistro La Porte Marseille in Nagoya, Japan (where else would you expect to find a french bistro!) will be celebrating its 1st birthday in June. Like these wonderful cakes, the Bistro is the creation of food artist Moriyasu.
Indulge in a slice of the ‘vegedeco’ cakes and you will get s surprise – because the cakes are actually salads in disguise!
The salad vegetables are sandwiched between Moriyasu’s layers of “sponge cake” made from soybean. The cake is covered in ‘frosting’ of tofu cream cheese and then she turns her artistry – wizardry – on the decoration. The result is Wow!
The cakes have been such a big hit with her customers that Moriyasu has just opened a new eatery, Vegedeco Salad Cafe, dedicated entirely to healthy eating, where you can enjoy a slice of gorgeous cake accompanied by a fermented dressing made with koji, and a hot cup of tea, flavoured with – you’ve guessed it – vegetables.
What a way to inspire people to #EatForThePlanet!
What a brilliant idea and how wonderfully presented! 🙂
